Denizli
Denizli is located in the interior part of the Aegean region and has a population of around 1 million. It is in this area that we find the natural site of Pamukkale, known as the 8th wonder of the world, invaded by thousands of local and foreign tourists every time of the year. It is indeed a famous tourist spot with mineral-rich thermal waters sheltered by snow-white terraces.
By the way, "Pamukkale" means "cotton castle" in Turkish. The hot springs can be found in the next town, Hierapolis, a Roman spa town with a well-preserved theater and other architectural wonders just waiting for you. The artefacts and monuments belonging to various periods always arouse the curiosity of visitors: Hittites, Lydians, Persians, Macedonian kingdom, Pergamon kingdom, Roman empire, Turkish, Byzantine, and Ottoman.
For this reason, Denizli is at the center of cultural tourism. Denizli is also one of the most important cities in the field of health tourism with its hot springs and modern infrastructure. Denizli has shown remarkable economic development over the past decades based in particular on textile production and exports.
Having grown into a vibrant export-oriented manufacturing center, Denizli is frequently cited as one of the prime examples of “Anatolian tigers” in reference to its rapid pace of development. Denizli is therefore a privileged place for shopping, which will delight those who are also looking for cultural visits.
