Marmaris
Marmaris is a coastal city, port city, and tourist destination on Turkey's southwest Mediterranean coast, in the province of Mugla. Marmaris divides the Mediterranean Sea and the Aegean Sea into a long, narrow peninsula. It is one of Turkey's most popular holiday towns and one of the largest resorts on the Aegean coast.
With its long coastline, exceptional landscape of pine-covered hills, secluded bays and coves, magnificent beaches, ancient towns, marinas and all kinds of attractions, Marmaris welcomes around 400,000 people during the summer season. Marmaris is also a charming seaside resort where swimming is possible in secluded bays as well as in front of downtown hotels.
The sea is always crystal clear, with long stretches of fine golden sand beaches and 300 days of sunshine per year. The area bordered by Marmaris Castle, Marmaris Port and Marmaris Marina is called "Old Town of Marmaris". The historic buildings in central Marmaris all date from the 17th century to the time of the Ottoman Empire. The historic buildings are all protected and restored and most of them are now used as bars, restaurants and shopping centers. The narrow streets and the wooden buildings give a very charming atmosphere to the city.
