Kafkasor Bullfighting in Turkey is a local tradition which takes place every year on the Kafkasor High Plateau 8 km from Artvin Province in the Black Sea region of Turkey.

Artvin, with its unique Kafkasor bullfights which offer breathtaking scenes of excitement, as well as its other festivals and parties, is a region and city that should not be missed in Turkey. The most interesting part of the festival is the third week in which the bullfight takes place.

Bulls from all parts of the province are ranked according to their neck thickness or weight and are pitted against each other, they engage in a fight.

56 bulls weighing between 700-950 kilograms, brought from the provinces of Artvin, Rize, Muğla, Aydın, Erzurum, Antalya, Istanbul and Bursa, participated in the wrestling organized by Artvin Boğacılar Sports Club in order to keep the tradition of bullfighting alive for two centuries in the city.

UNIQUE TRADITIONAL SPORT
In this way, the Kafkasor bullfights have a sporting and entertaining atmosphere with their own rules.

This type of bullfight is unique in Turkey and characteristic of the region. Many locals come to join in this entertainment, where Turkish wrestling and folk dances and minstrel poems are also organized in Turkey. In short, this is a festival where all local traditions come together.

TURKISH CORRIDA RULES
Animal rights are highly protected in Turkey. This is a historical tradition dating back to the Ottoman Empire. Because of this, certain rules have been applied since the beginning of the bullfights in order to protect the bulls from injury and suffering in Turkey. When the weaker bull withdraws from the arena, that defeat is accepted and the animal is taken out of the bullfight by officials. So there is no such thing as a bloody or inappropriate spectacle. All ages can come and watch bullfighting in Turkey.
